EXT. EASTERN PROVINCE — DUSK

Two audiences. One account. No shared assumptions.

Aramco and Ithra sit in the same province and expect entirely different things from an event. Running both well means never letting one set of instincts leak into the other.

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Ithra, at dusk in Saudi Arabia
Ithra in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province — where cultural programming and corporate delivery run on different logic.

Context

Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province carries two distinct event cultures at once. Corporate energy-sector programmes are governed by hierarchy, compliance and precision. Cultural programming under Ithra is governed by audience experience, artistic intent and public reception. The same supplier base serves both, and the same account manager is expected to move between them without importing the wrong instinct.

My responsibility

I led major account and project work for Aramco and Ithra programmes, owning the route from brief and strategy through to delivery and reporting. That covered client expectations, budgets, concepts, suppliers and execution across two audience types with different stakeholder needs.

The delivery system

  • Owned the full account route — brief, strategy, delivery and reporting — rather than handing off between stages.
  • Ran corporate and cultural programmes on separate decision logic while sharing one supplier and resourcing base.
  • Managed budgets and concept development against distinct approval cultures.
  • Established account and project controls that made delivery consistent across both programme types.
  • Translated cultural-programme creative ambition into schedules the operational team could actually build.

Results

  • Delivery consistency strengthened across corporate and cultural programme streams
  • Full account ownership maintained from brief through post-event reporting
  • Supplier and budget control held across a concurrent multi-programme calendar

Lesson retained

Two clients in the same city can require opposite instincts. The account manager’s job is to keep them from contaminating each other.
